KITE

The Kite was designed for indoor air handlers or gas furnaces used in residential HVAC applications. The Kite uses photocatalytic oxidation (PCO)  to reduce the concentration of odors from Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) and reduces viable airborne biological contaminants that include mold, bacteria, and viruses.

  • How does humidity affect performance?
It performs better. Our technology does better in environments where there is an abundance of H2O because the hydroxyl radical that is created is a breakdown of O2 and 2OH.
  • PCO has a reputation for introducing ozone and formaldehyde to the treated air, what prevents this product from doing so?"
The special design. Our design has better energy distribution and longer residence time. All lamps are tested at the factory and certified not to produce ozone.
  • Does it send ions into the space?
No, they do not. CenterPoint Panel technology uses photons from the UV light.
  • What is average cost as compared to UV disinfection or NBPI?
It depends on who is selling the product. If you contact Genesis Air, they can help you contact your local manufacturer representative to compare costs.
  • Would an airborne Reactive Oxygen Species be dangerous to humans or animals?
Lungs are vulnerable to endogenous and exogenous sources of ROS insults. They are well equipped with antioxidant defenses to negate normal oxidative insults. However, when the oxidative defenses are overwhelmed by formidable oxidant influx, injury results. ROS are frequently associated with many pulmonary diseases. They are increasingly being recognized as mediators of early cell injury in lung diseases.
  • How long do the bulbs last?
    12,000 hours or 15 months.
  • How do I know Indoor air quality? Any detectors or devices to monitor air quality?
There are PVOC meters, Anderson Samplers, or you can bag the air and send it to a facility equipped to test the air quality.
  • How long has this been available? Can you give examples of major installations and/or references?
The panels have been in the field for 18 years. The current CenterPoint variation is less than a year old. Some installations include the following: Stanford University, Stanford Hospital, Pavilion at MD Anderson, 140 hospitals and major airports throughout the country, etc.. All references can be found through contacting Genesis Air.
  • Has it been tested with SARS-COV2?
Yes. The results can be seen on our tests page.
  • Do the panels require periodic regeneration? If so, what is the process and frequency?"
They do not require regeneration because of the way the panels are coated.
  • How can CenterPoint Panels help with Covid 19?
The panels can kill the COVID-19 particles found in droplet nuclei by creating a free radical in the form of reactive oxygen species namely hydroxyl radicals. The panel breaks them down as they pass through the OH field that is generated. The panels are scalable and simple to place in most airstreams. They are safe to use in occupied spaces. Point: The ROS created in the panel, OH has a half-life of 1/10 to the -10th second. Therefore, it does not migrate into the occupied space. The ROS is a very powerful one. As with any free radical (oxidant), tissue is damaged or killed by overwhelming the natural defenses (antioxidants). This process is not limited to a specific organism. Where the reaction takes place is a real concern. It all happens safely within the panel. Air filters, including High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters have been used for many years in heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Some are very effective in trapping particles like pollen and dust. Unfortunately, they cannot trap minute particles like viruses, most bacteria, and mold spores that breed in the dark moist interiors of HVAC cooling coils and drain pans, which are located downstream of filters. There is also a problem with fungal spores growing and multiplying in damp HEPA filter material. When this happens, the filter can increase the number of spores in the room or the building. Ultraviolet germicidal devices radiate powerful UVC light onto the coils and drain pans inside the air-conditioning system where mold and other odor and disease-causing organisms breed. The UVC light inactivates and gradually vaporizes this microbial growth on the coils. In the air stream at 500 fpm, it simply does not have enough dwell time to inactivate all the biologics that come within the energy of the light.
  • Can the hydroxyl radicals be carried into the air stream?
No. Unlike bipolar ionization or cold plasma systems that create ions that interact with the contaminant to create reactive oxygen species in the occupied space, Genesis Air's Catalyst design creates hydroxyl radicals from a pure TIo2 Catalyst on its surface when activated with UVGI lamps that are non-ozone producing (certified by California Air Resources Board). The hydroxyl radical will only travel fractions of an inch off of the surface. A hydroxyl radical has only a half-life of 10-9 seconds. It will only travel .0000254mm into the airstream at 500fpm. We do not create any negative or positive ions that could be carried into the airstream to continue the oxidation process. All the activity of the contaminant’s oxidation process occurs on the surface of the catalyst.
  • Where are the components manufactured?
All components are manufactured in the United States. Genesis Air has an assembly plant located in Lubbock, TX.
  • The panel lifecycle is 15 years on average, is there a meter that indicates functionality of panel and/or UV lamps?"
An electron microscope should be used to see the layer of crystals. Also, there is a meter to measure the intensity of the UV lamp.
  • Is TIO2 (titanium dioxide) toxic?
It is very safe, and there is not very much of it on the panels.
  • Are the UV lamps low or no Mercury type?
    Low Mercury
